Tradiciones ancestrales de los grupos indígenas en el interior del país La población del país profesa mayormente el catolicismo, profundamente ligado a las tradiciones y expresiones culturales. En el interior del país, por ejemplo, las más grandes celebraciones están relacionadas con diversos santos, a los que se les denomina patronos de los pueblos, de igual forma se celebra la más grande de las fiestas la cual se denomina como la Semana Mayor o Semana Santa que es el periodo sagrado del cristianismo que transcurre desde el Domingo de Ramos hasta el Domingo de Resurrección. Parte importante de la riqueza cultural del país está en las tradiciones de los siete grupos indígenas de Panamá, que se encuentran asentados en territorios semi-autónomos, en los que mantienen vivas sus costumbres ancestrales.
