Goombay is a Bantu word for “rhythm”, which also refers to the drum that uses a goat-skin head to produce the rhythm of this type of music. JUNKANOO Although the origins of this parade are still an object of much lively debate, what is known for a fact is that after centuries of tradition, the present-day cultural extravaganzas have become the most entertaining carnival street parade not only of the Bahamas, but also of the whole world.
