Once they’ve chosen the place, they start to dig a hole. In less than an hour, they’ll have finished. Then, all that’s left to do is cover the eggs with sand and return to the sea. The Cape Verde Islands are the secondmost important destination in the Atlantic for the re- production of this species, Lacaçâo beach being one of the turtles’ sanctuaries. Una vez elegido el sitio, comienza a excavar un agujero para la puesta. En algomenos de una hora ya habrá acabado. Ahora solo le queda cubrir los huevos con arena y volver al mar. El archipiélago de Cabo Verde es el segundo destino en importancia en el Atlántico para la reproducción de esta especie. Y, dentro de ella, la playa de Lacaçâo es uno de sus santuarios. Pero también en su asesor y auditor en todo lo rela- cionado con el cuidado del entorno. Gracias a los informes de Cabo Verde Natura 2000, RIU cuenta en todomomento con información detallada y actualizada para ofrecer a turoperadores y clientes. Probablemente sean estos últimos quienesmás disfruten de este acuerdo ya que pueden participar de forma activa en las actividades de protección am- biental. Entre ellas, están los juegos educativos para los niños que organiza el departamento de Animación o las salidas y suelta de tortugas dirigida a grandes y pequeños. EN Night falls. Both organisa- tions signed an agreement by which Cabo Verde Natura 2000 became RIU’s representative in the area, responsible for environmental issues and dealing with government authorities and other organisations. The NGO is also the advisor and auditor for RIU in all environmental matters. Thanks to reports prepared by Cabo Verde Natu- ra 2000, RIU always has detailed and up-to-date information available for tour operators and guests. It is probably the latter group who will get themost enjoyment from this agreement, as they will be able to participate actively in envi- ronmental protection projects. Letztere profitieren wahrscheinlich ammeisten von diesemAbkommen, weil sie sich aktiv an Umweltschutzaktivitäten beteiligen können. Dazu gehören unter anderemdie pädagogisch orientierten Spiele für Kinder als Animation- sangebot, oder die Freisetzung von Schildkröten für Große und Kleine.
