disinfection results for all the linens used in our establishments. But why ozone? The reason is that using ozone in our laundries eliminates the need for hot water to laundry linens. Aside from the energy savings, there are other benefits: Problems associated with waste water from laundries are avoided. - Water at low temperatures doesn’t have the same environmental impact as releasing hot waste water (because of the low levels of dissolved oxygen). - As ozone is an excellent biocide, the waste water is free of microbiological contami- nants. - The waste water pH making it harmless for the environment. - There’s less heat in the laundries, consider- ably improving working conditions there. Schon seit zwei Jahren benutzen die RIU- Wäschereien inMexiko, Panama und Kap Verde Ozon, umSchmutzwäsche zu desinfi- zieren und zu säubern. Aber warum gerade Ozon? Der Haupt-grund ist, daß dadurch die Erhitzung vonWasser vermieden wird. Und außer der Energiee- insparung gibt es noch weitere Vorteile, besonders imZusammenhang mit der Besei- tigung von Abwässern ausWaschmaschinen: - Aufgrund der niedrigen Temperaturen hat das Schmutzwasser weniger negative Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt als wärmere Abwasser (weil der Sauerstoffgehalt niedri- ger ist). - Da das Ozon ein vorzügliches Biozid ist, ist das Abwasser nicht mikrobiologisch versäucht. - Der pH-Wert des Abwassers beeinträchtigt deshalb die Umwelt kaum. En 2010, RIU consiguió un ahorro de casi 1,2 veces el volumen que tenía la gran pirámide de Keops cuando fue construida. Desde hace dos años, las lavanderías del Grupo RIU enMéxico, Panamá y Cabo Verde utilizan ozono para lograr una desin- fección y limpieza óptimas de la ropa usada en los establecimientos. Pero ¿por qué ozono? El motivo es que su uso en las lavanderías evita la utilización de agua caliente para el lavado de la ropa. Además del ahorro energético que ello supone, se logra: - Evitar los problemas asociados al vertido de aguas residuales procedentes de la lavandería: UN PRODUCTO DE LIMPIEZA LLAMADO OZONO

- Al usarse agua a baja temperatura, esta no tiene el impacto ambiental de los vertidos de agua caliente (por el bajo nivel de oxígeno disuelto en ella). - Al ser el ozono un excelente biocida, el agua residual no posee contaminación microbiológica. - El pH del agua residual, no es perjudicial para el medio ambiente. - Disipar menos calor a la lavandería, con lo que las condiciones de trabajo en estas mejoran considerablemente.
