It began its life 15 years ago in Washington in the kitchen of the house of one of its founders and its main ingredient is a comfrey plant with medicinal pro- perties. Y es lógico porque las bicis de madera son más cómodas y más idóneas para terrenos no asfaltados por la capacidad para absorber golpes del material, son más ligeras y más duraderas y, además, son más ecológicas al ser biodegradables, reutilizables y reciclables. To convince us they are environmentally friendly, the bikes have a certificate that guarantees the wood is sourced from sustainably managed forests. DE Holz ist für Fahrradhersteller zu einem geschätzten Material geworden. Logisch, denn Fahrräder aus Holz sind gemütlicher. Da das Material Stöße besser dämpft, eignen sie sich besser für nicht as- phaltierte Strecken, sie sind leichter, langlebiger und außerdem umweltfreundlicher, denn sie sind bio- logisch abbaubar, wiederverwendbar und recycelbar. Doch um sicher zu sein, dass Letzteres wirklich zutrifft, sollte man sich vergewissern, dass das Fahrrad über ein Zertifikat verfügt, das die nachhaltige Bewirtschaftung der Wälder, aus denen das verwendete Holz stammt, garantiert.
