ES El fallo, siempre lo dijo, fue pensar que no podría controlar las emociones desde la distancia y que la mejor manera de so- lucionarlo era olvidarse de ella. Y para eso lo ideal era borrar de su móvil todo rastro de Lena (fotos, mensajes de Whatsapp intercambiados durante esos días...) y fingir no tener perfil en ninguna red social para evitar seguir en contacto con ella después del verano: «Es algo que no va con mi forma de ser», le aseguró. Desde entonces, hace ya exactamente un año, vive obsesionado pensando en el día en que podrían reencontrarse para pedirle perdón. Recordó que en algún momento de aquellos dos días Lena le había dicho que a sus padres les encantaba el Riu Papayas y que ya era el tercer año que repetían. Por esa razón, Jorge ha estado especialmente puntilloso las últimas semanas para repetir exactamente las mismas vacaciones que el año pasado, mismas fechas, mismo hotel, a lo que sus padres han accedido sin oponer la más mínima objeción.

The best way, he thought would be to delete every last trace of Lena from his phone (photos, WhatsApp messages exchanged over the course of those days…) and pretend he didn’t have a presence on social media to avoid contact with her after their holidays: “It’s not really my thing,” he told her. Since then, for exactly one year, he has lived obsessed with the moment they would meet again and he would ask her to forgive him. He remembered that at one point during the course of those two days, Lena had told him her parents loved Riu Papayas and that it was the third year they had gone there. Jorge had been gripped by anxiety during the last few weeks, desperate to repeat exactly the same holiday as last year, with the same dates, at the same hotel. Luckily, his parents had agreed without the slightest objection.

DE Der Fehler, dessen war er sicher, be- stand darin zu denken, dass er die Gefühle auf die Entfernung nicht werde aushalten kön- nen und dass es daher das Beste sei, Lena zu vergessen. Und am praktischsten wäre es, in seinem Handy alles zu löschen, was auf die Existenz von Lena hinweisen könnte und einfach zu behaupten, gegen Social Media zu sein, dachte er. Seit diesem Moment, vor nun schon genau einem Jahr, denkt er wie besessen an den Tag, an dem sie sich vielleicht wiedersehen werden, damit er sich bei ihr entschuldigen kann. Er erinnerte sich, dass Lena ihm irgendwann während dieser zwei Tage erzählt hatte, dass ihre Eltern vom Riu Papayas begeistert seien und sie nun schon das dritte Jahr in Folge hergekommen seien. Aus diesem Grund war es Jorge in den letzten Wochen besonders wichtig gewesen, dass sie ihren Urlaub ganz genau wie im letzten Jahr verbringen würden, zur gleichen Zeit, im gleichen Hotel, und seine Eltern hatten dem ohne jeglichen Einwand zugestimmt.
