EN He may almost be an octogenarian (it’s his 80th birthday at the end of 2015) but there’s nothing to suggest that Woody Allen is thinking about retiring from cinema. Ever since starring in ’Take the Money and Run’ in 1969, the New York actor, director, comedian, screenwriter, playwright and clarinet player has kept to his self-imposed goal of delivering a film a year. He has worked in two films (one as director, ’Blue Jasmine’, and another, ’Fading Gigolo’, as actor), reminding us of his belief that “retirement is for people who have spent their whole life hating what they do”. Woody Allen has enjoyed a long and productive career as a director. He is one of the most pro- lific figures in the history of Hollywood, having received 116 awards (including four Oscars, for which he holds the record for most nominations received as director and screenwriter, with a total of 23) and he stands out in the industry for the number of famous actors and actresses who have expressed their desire to work with him.
