Jamaica’s richness lies in its people

La riqueza de Jamiaca radica en sus gentes.

The Jamaican culture is the product of a mixture of cultures that settled on the island of Jamaica. Was formed primarily by the Taino Indians, Spanish settlers, the English missionaries, African blacks and finally the Indian and Chinese communities. Jamaica is known for its rich culture and music, which have made the island famous worldwide. The musical genres ska, reggae, rocksteady, dub, dancehall, ragga ragga jungle and have all been conceived in Jamaica. The most popular music is reggae, with their different styles and blends: dub, dance hall, Raggas, raggamufin, early reggae and roots reggae, released on a large scale by the Jamaican Bob Marley who through his music deepened and made known one culture that reverberated worldwide. The first of these was the ska genre, “father” of the following, is credited with creating the genre of The Skatalites.

La cultura jamaiquina es el resultado de una mezcla de civilizaciones que se fueron asentando en la isla, constituidas principalmente por indios taínos, colonizadores españoles, evangelizadores ingleses, negros africanos y por último las comunidades de hindús y chinos. Jamaica destaca por su rica cultura y su música, que han hecho de la isla un paraíso universalmente conocido. Los géneros musicales ska, reggae, rocksteady, dub, dancehall, ragga y ragga jungle han sido concebidos en Jamaica. La música popular es el reggae, con sus diferentes estilos y mezclas: dub, dance hall, raggas, raggamufin, early reggae o reggae roots, que el jamaiquino Bob Marley contribuyó a difundir a escala mundial, llegando a crear una marca propia que se establecería casi como una cultura y un estilo de vida alternativo. El primero de estos géneros fue el ska, creado por The Skatalites, del que derivaron todos los demás estilos.
