—Señor y señora Comandante —dijeron los Bellavista. —Disculpen que no me levante. —comentó burlón el señor Comandante—. Es la frase que está escrita en la lápida de Groucho Marx. Lo leí de camino aquí. Por cierto, ¿qué es una lápida? —Cosas de la gente que tiene cuerpo —dijo el señor Bellavista. —¿Y qué es eso de “cariño” que acabáis de decir?—añadió la señora Comandante. La señora Bellavista se ruborizó al responder:

“Mr and Mrs Bellavista,” remarked the couple. “Excuse me, I can’t stand up,” remarked Mr Commandante jocularly. “The phrase was written on Groucho Marx’ gravestone. I read it on my way here. But it left me wondering, what’s a gravestone?” “It’s a special thing for people with bodies,” remarked Mr Bellavista. “And what about that word darling you just used?” asked Mrs Commandante.

„Señor und Señora Comandante“, sagten die Bellavistas. „Entschuldigen Sie, dass ich mich nicht erhebe“, erwiderte der Señor Comandante spöttisch. „Der Satz steht auf dem Grabstein von Groucho Marx. Das habe ich auf demWeg hierher gelesen. Übrigens, was ist eigentlich ein Grabstein?“ „Etwas für Leute mit einem Körper“, sagte Señor Bellavista. „Und was bedeutet dieses Liebling, das Sie gerade gesagt haben?“, fügte die Señora Comandante hinzu.

Mrs Bellavista blushed as she replied:

—Así llaman algunos humanos a sus parejas...

Señora Bellavista errötete, als sie antwortete:

—¿Y esto? ¿Cómo se llama? —Cama —dijo la señora Bellavista. —Cama. Nada cansa tanto como la forma humana. Es un buen invento.

“And this, what’s it called?” “A bed,” replied Mrs Bellavista. “Bed... There’s nothing as tiring as the human shape. What a great invention.”

Señor Comandante strich mit der Hand über das Bett:

„Und das hier? Wie heißt das?“ „Bett“, sagte Señora Bellavista. „Bett. Nichts macht so müde wie die menschliche Form. Das ist eine gute Erfindung.“

El señor Bellavista vio una oportunidad para ganarse la confianza de su superior:

—¿Sabe qué le dejará como nuevo? Un masaje en el Spa. —Y la sauna —dijo la señora Bellavista. —¡Basta! —dijo el señor Comandante.

Señor Bellavista schien die Gelegenheit günstig, das Vertrauen seines Vorgesetzten zu gewinnen:

„Wissen Sie, wie Sie sich wie neugeboren fühlen? Nach einer Massage im Spa.“ „Und nach der Sauna“, sagte Señora Bellavista. „Genug!“, sagte Señor Comandante.
