EN The weather wasn’t great. But honestly, did anyone have good weather on their spring holidays this year? Who cares about the weather when you can enjoy the facilities of Hotel Riu Chiclana, especially its spa, perfect for relaxing after the rain? Without a doubt, highly recommendable. Truth be told, though, the weather was only bad for half our trip, which meant we were given the chance to enjoy a taste of the wide range of original leisure activities Chiclana de la Frontera offers its visitors. We took a boat trip to the Castle of Sancti Petri, where there are many options to choose from, including taking in the sunset, yoga classes and kayak trips, perfect for team building and groups. Then we had the chance to discover the secrets of the workings of the traditional salt mine Santa María de Jesús, in the heart of the Natural Park of the Bay of Cádiz, which is also Spain’s first natural spa to be located in a salt marsh. And this is to say nothing of the things to do in the town of Chiclana itself, such as the stunning views from the Chapel of Santa Ana, the temptations of the Wine and Salt Interpretation Centre or even just strolling through the streets, taking in the impressive market and mingling with the locals. Finally, after a few days getting to know the area, where better to relax and recover your energy than the newly refurbished facilities of Hotel Riu Chiclana? This all-inclusive, 24-hour hotel offers guests a wide range of dining options, with four restaurants and six bars to satisfy the most discerning palates. The hotel also has direct access to the beach, as well as five outdoor pools. And don’t worry, two of them are heated… just in case the weather is bad.
