EN The mere mention of some of the world’s best-known cities is enough to conjure up an image of a building or a landmark in our minds. But sometimes it can be hard to limit ourselves to just one. San Francisco is a classic example: what comes to our minds when we hear the name? If we carried out a survey, most people would probably rank the Golden Gate Bridge in first place. The giant international orange suspension bridge is the most popular in the city and one of the most famous in the world. Despite its fame, however, it’s by no means the city’s only icon. San Francisco is also associated with its cable cars, its hilly streets, its elegant colonial houses and the views of Alcatraz.
