Cancún, donde trabaja la Fundación Aitana, es uno de los destinos donde RIU Hotels & Resorts tiene mayor presencia. Cuando la compañía conoció la existencia de esta asociación, decidió apoyarles con el fin de que estos niños y sus familiares pudieran desplazarse, sin coste alguno, a otras ciudades como Mérida o Chetumal para pasar consulta médica y recibir sus tratamientos. Con esta aportación se han cubierto los gastos de autobuses de primera clase, billetes de avión, medicamentos y otras partidas destinadas a favorecer el bienestar de cientos de niños residentes en Cancún. Pero la lucha sigue y en 2018 se ha ganado una batalla más. El pasado octubre se inauguró la Unidad de Quimioterapia Ambulatoria en el Hospital General de Cancún Dr. Jesús Kumate Rodríguez con dos pediatras especialistas y cuatro enfermeros. RIU Hotels & Resorts se ha comprometido a cubrir todos los gastos de medicinas necesarias para esta área oncológica y los suministros médicos que precise la realización de las quimioterapias durante un periodo inicial de 2 años.

Cancun, where the Aitana Foundation carries out its work, is one of RIU Hotels & Resorts’ biggest destinations. When the company found out about the association, it pledged support to cover the cost of transport for children and their families to other cities like Mérida or Chetumal for medical check-ups and treatment. The funds have paid for first class buses, plane tickets, drugs and other items to improve the well-being of hundreds of children resident in Cancun. However, the fight continues and in 2018 another battle was won. In October, the Chemotherapy Outpatient Unit was opened at the Dr Jesús Kumate Rodríguez Cancun General Hospital, staffed by two specialist paediatricians and four nurses. RIU Hotels & Resorts has pledged to cover the full cost of the drugs required for the oncology area, alongside the medical supplies needed for chemotherapy for an initial period of two years.

Doch der Kampf geht weiter und 2018 wurde eine weitere Schlacht gewonnen. Im Oktober jenes Jahres eröffnete im örtlichen Krankenhaus von Cancún, dem Hospital General de Cancún Dr. Jesús Kumate Rodríguez, die Abteilung für ambulante Chemotherapie mit zwei spezialisierten Kinderärzten und vier Krankenpflegern. RIU Hotels & Resorts hat sich verpflichtet, in einer ersten Phase von 2 Jahren alle Kosten für Arzneimittel im onkologischen Bereich sowie für die medizinische Ausrüstung, die für die Durchführung der Chemotherapien benötigt wird, zu übernehmen.
