EN Frank Lloyd Wright already sensed this when, at the beginning of the 20th century, he said that “Chicago will be the most beautiful great city left in the world.” More than a hundred years after the famous architect’s words, Chicago is considered to be one of the most spectacular cities in the United States. The largest city in Illinois is also the third largest in the country, although more than for its size, Chicago stands out for its spectacular architecture, which - pun intended - is dominated by its skyscrapers. Of all of them, Willis Tower, also known as the Sears Tower, stands above the rest, at 1,451 feet, 63 more than the second building in the city, The Trump Tower. In addition to its architectural gems, Chicago has a great natural attraction: Lake Michigan. In the city’s nearly 30 miles of coastline, residents and tourists can enjoy up to 15 beaches, take cruises, rent canoes and kayaks, and walk or ride a bike along its shores. Die größte Stadt in Illinois ist zugleich die drittgrößte des Landes, doch mehr als durch ihre Größe zeichnet sich Chicago durch eine spektakuläre Architektur aus, mit ihren – besser kann man es nicht ausdrücken – herausragenden Wolkenkratzern. Dabei überragt der Willis Tower, auch als Sears Tower bekannt, mit einer Höhe von 443 Metern alle anderen und ist damit 20 Meter höher als das zweithöchste Gebäude der Stadt, der Trump Tower. Neben den architektonischen Schätzen hat Chicago auch eine große natürliche Attraktion zu bieten: den Michigansee. An der fast 48 Kilometer langen Küstenlinie der Stadt können Einwohner und Touristen bis zu 15 Strände genießen, Kreuzfahrten unternehmen, Kanus oder Kajaks mieten und an seinen Ufern spazieren gehen oder Rad fahren. De entre todos ellos, Willis Tower, también conocida como Sears Tower, se alza por encima del resto con sus 443 metros de altura, 20 más que el segundo edificio más alto de la ciudad, la Trump Tower. Además de sus joyas arquitectónicas, Chicago dispone de un gran atractivo natural: el Lago Michigan. En los cerca de 48 km de costa que dispone la ciudad, habitantes y turistas pueden disfrutar de hasta 15 playas, hacer cruceros, alquilar canoas o kayaks y pasear o montar en bici bordeando sus orillas.
