ES En Tailandia, el dorado es más que un color. Con él se representa la divinidad y el resplandor de Buda. Quizás la muestra más evidente es la figura del Buda reclinado de más de 46 metros de largo y 15 de altura que se encuentra en el templo What Pho. O el Buda de Oro de Wat Traimit, ambos en Bangkok. El amarillo impera en los templos, pero también en los palacios, puesto que es un color asociado a la monarquía. El hecho de que el rey Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) naciera un lunes (en concreto, el 5 de diciembre de 1927) propició que en su honor cada lunes millones de tailandeses vistieran de amarillo. Una tradición que perduró más allá de su muerte, ocurrida en 2016, en parte porque el actual rey Vajiralongkorn (Rama X), también nació en ese día de la semana.

The fact that King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) was born on a Monday (specifically, December 5, 1927), led to millions of Thai people wearing yellow in his honor every Monday. A tradition that endured beyond his death in 2016, in part because the current King Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) was also born on that day of the week.
