ES Desde Playa Blanca se pueden recorrer los 122 kilómetros que hay hasta la capital, Ciudad de Panamá, donde puede apreciarse esa obra de ingeniería que es el Canal, la hendidura que une el Pacífico con el Caribe. Buen lugar para una parada técnica y disfrutar de las vistas de toda la urbe desde los casi 200 metros de altura del Cerro Ancón. Y si ya se quiere completar el día, hay que coger la autopista Panamá-Colón. Un trayecto de 80 kilómetros tras los que aparecerá el mar Caribe y la Ciudad de Colón. Segunda ciudad del país, ya durante la época colonial era un lugar clave como punto de salida de tesoros destinados a España y ha sido su posición lo que le ha valido para ser la terminal norte del Canal, con el gran desarrollo que ello implica. Se puede visitar la Zona Libre que, para enten- dernos, es uno de los duty free más grandes y antiguos del mundo; o hacer un tour por las Esclusas de Gatún, que enseñan cómo funciona el Canal. Otra posibilidad es hacer una ruta por la provincia, buscando playas increíbles y poblados con antiguas fortalezas españolas.

EN It is 122 kilometres from Playa Blanca to the country’s capital, Panama City. Here you can gaze upon one of the world’s greatest engineering achievements: the Panama Canal, which connects the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean. The almost 200-metre Cerro Ancon hill is a good place to stop for a break and take in the views over the city. For a perfect end to your day, take the Pana- ma-Colon motorway. This 80-kilometre drive will take you to the Caribbean Sea and Colon, the country’s second city. During the colonial era, Colon was a major port for sending riches to Spain and because of its position it was chosen as the northern entrance to the canal, which brought significant growth to the city. You can visit the Colon Free Trade Zone, which could be described as one of the world’s largest and oldest Duty Frees, or have a look at the Panama Canal locks to see how the ca- nal works. Another option is to travel around the province in search of its amazing beaches and old Spanish fortresses.

DE Von Playa Blanca aus sind es 122 Kilometer bis zur Hauptstadt Panama-City, in der man das Wunderwerk der Technik, den Panamakanal, bestaunen kann: die Wasserstraße, die Pazifik und Karibik miteinander verbindet. Dies ist ein guter Ort für einen Zwischenstopp, bei demman von dem fast 200 Meter hohen Berg Ancón aus die Sicht über die gesamte Großstadt genießen kann. Um den Tag abzurunden, nimmt man die Auto- bahn Panamá-Colón. Nach einer 80 Kilometer langen Fahrt tauchen das Karibische Meer und die Stadt Colón vor einem auf. Die zweitgrößte Stadt des Landes spielte bereits zu Kolonialzei- ten eine wichtige Rolle bei der Verschiffung von Schätzen nach Spanien. Aufgrund ihrer Lage wurde sie zum nördlichen Ende des Kanals, was für die Stadt einen großen Aufschwung zur Folge hatte. Hier kann die Freihandelszone besucht werden, einer der größten und ältesten Duty-free-Bereiche der Welt. Oder man kann bei einer Besichtigung der Gatún-Schleusen sehen, wie der Kanal funktioniert. Außerdem kann man sich bei einem Ausflug in das Umland auf die Suche nach außergewöhnlichen Stränden mit alten spanischen Festungen begeben.
