ES Pensar en Ramón Arroyo es pensar en risas, canciones, tonadas silbadas y el aroma de su perfume. No es que quiera hacer poesía. Cualquiera que lo conozca le reconocerá en todo lo que digo. Lo que quizás no sepan todos es que Ramón Arroyo es uno de los empleados más antiguos de RIU y el único que ha reportado directamente a las tres generaciones de la familia Riu durante su trayectoria de 45 años en la empresa. El puesto de director de Servicios Técnicos suele estar siempre lejos de los focos, pero en esta ocasión queremos que brille con luz propia. Ramón Arroyo y yo nos conocemos desde que yo era un niño. Nuestra relación profesional empezó en Canarias en 1984 cuando preparábamos la apertura del Riu Palmeras, nuestro primer hotel fuera de Baleares. Entonces, Ramón ya llevaba 10 años en la empresa, la mayoría trabajando mano a mano con Juan Riu. “Don Juan era muy duro. Se enfadaba, pero se le pasaba a los pocos minutos. EN The name Ramón Arroyo conjures up laughter, singing, whistling and the smell of his aftershave. I’m not trying to be poetic. Anyone who knows himwill agree with the description above. However, perhaps not everyone knows that Ramón Arroyo is one of the longest serving employees on the RIU team and the only member of staffwho has directly reported to three generations of the Riu family during his 45-yearcareer at the company. The job of director of Technical Services is always hidden in the background. However, on this occasion, we’d like to shine a spotlight on Ramón. Ramón Arroyo and I have known each other since I was a child. Our working relationship began on the Canary Islands in 1984 when we were preparing for the opening of Riu Palmeras, our first hotel outside the Balearic Islands. Ramón had already been working with the company for 10 years, most of them alongside Juan Riu. “Don Juan was a hard task master. He could have a bit of a temper, but his anger quickly faded.
